NORTH READING — The Friends of the North Reading Council on Aging will sponsor its Townwide Yard Sale again this year.
This is the group’s 16th Annual Townwide Yard Sale. What a great way to repurpose and recycle your “things” – think “Trash to Treasure.”
It has become an extremely popular event, drawing people from far and near. All participants have to do is plan a typical yard/garage sale at their own home and sign up to be on The Map. As previously, there will be some limited spaces available at Town Hall for those who want an indoor space.
It is never too early to get ready for the first yard sale of the season, so start going through your stuff. Save the date: Saturday, May 3, 2025, 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., rain or shine.
This is a fundraiser for the Friends. The Friends is a non-profit organization dedicated to promote and support the Edith A. O’Leary Senior Center here in North Reading at the Third Meeting House (Building on the Common), as well as improving programming and services offered to our seasoned citizens who are age 60 and over. “Your contribution to be put on The Map goes straight to the Friends to support their cause. Since this is our 16th annual event we will be hoping to raise extra funds to be dedicated to a special project, to be determined,” stated Friends member Angela Mauceri.
For a moderate fee, the Friends will supply signs and advertise your location on The Map to be distributed throughout town and online. The Yard Sale will also be advertised in newspapers and on radio, as well as online. Being put on The Map ensures that your location will be easy to find. You can list what categories most of your items fall into and that will also be listed on The Map.
“We have found that people come from all over the state, as well as neighboring states, to look for great bargains at the Townwide Yard Sale. They know it’s a real opportunity to come to a yard sale that has had over 90 participants in previous years – and get to them all in one town,” she said. “If you want to jump on this opportunity quickly, the application will be available soon on the Friends of the Council on Aging website as well as at the Library and Edith O’Leary Senior Center (Building on the Common).
Email notices will be sent to previous participants. Watch for updates and contact information in the Transcript and online, as well as our famous “pink” signs that will be popping up around town.
