They will be honored at Sr. Night tonight
- ANDOVER—Under the lights in front of a packed crowd at North Andover High School, the Melrose High Marching Band took 1st place in their division this past Saturday night.
This is a huge achievement for the band and color guard, earning high caption awards for best music, visuals, and overall performance. NESBA Division IV competition this season is tight, with strong performances this past Saturday from Salem and Methuen as well.
Band Director Matt Repucci couldn’t be more proud. “The Band has been working really hard ever since the summer,” he said. “Moving up to Doc. 4 this year, we knew we would need to practice harder than ever. They’ve been doing that and the results showed on the field Saturday night. We’re very proud of them!”
Working since late August to bring their show to the field, the Melrose Band’s performance on Saturday was inspiring and their celebration on the field post-awards ceremony was a great representation of their hard work and dedication. Melrose excels in their musicianship and storytelling, with their 2023 show Distant Horizons. With three competitions remaining in the season, they look to fine tune their marching and precision ahead of Finals on Sunday, November 5th.
What’s next for the band? On Friday, October 20, the Melrose Band joins Football and Cheer to celebrate Senior Night at Fred Green Field, recognizing 11 seniors including: Lily Dale in Color Guard, Chad Koutalidis in Trumpet, Sadie Nowik on Flute, Ben Rossi on Snare Drum, Adam Saragos on Trumpet, Peter Sulahian on Trumpet, Ellie Sweeney on Flute, Theo Tervalon on Saxophone, Scarlett Timm in Color Guard, Sophie Walton on Mellophone, and Ava Wenzel leading the band as Drum Major. And then, on Saturday, October 21, the band is on the road to Wakefield for their next competition.
