LYNNFIELD — Riley Hallahan was the lone member of the Lynnfield High girls’ indoor track and field team to make the Cape Ann League All-Star team this winter. The senior shot-putter was undefeated this season and she set the school record in the CAL Meet last month with a toss of 31’9”.
“I was not surprised with her talent,” said Pioneers second-year head coach Adam Dell’Aria. “I was very happy for her.”
It was the second year in a row she made the All-Star team as she played basketball her first two years at Lynnfield High.
On March 1, the team had its awards banquet. Hallahan received the Coaches Award along with fellow 12th-grader Maggie Davidson.
Freshman Gabby Bottaro took home the Rookie of the Year Award while senior captain, Jasmine Rose, was the team’s MVP and Scholar Athlete. Rose ran the 55-meter hurdles and was part of the 4×200 relay team.
“We had a really good season,” said DellAria. “We had a lot of freshman on the roster and we were better than our 1-3 record showed.”
Lynnfield came in fourth place in the CAL Kinney Division and in the league meet on Feb. 8 at the Reggie Lewis Center, they placed 6th out of the 10 CAL schools.
Along with Rose, Hallahan and Davidson, the team will also lose two more seniors, Daniela Rosa and Morgan DeGrazia.
“The seniors were a great group that led by example,” said Dell’Aria.
Next winter, the Pioneers will have over 30 veterans coming back.
