Loved Harley Davidson motorcycling since 1957
NORTHBOROUGH — Douglas R. Lipert, 81, of Northborough, formerly of North Reading and Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 23, 1940, he was the son of the late Anthony and Winona G. (Olson) Lipert. Doug was raised and attended school in Wisconsin. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1958 to 1961, he was assigned to the USS Bristol.
Doug worked for many years as a self-employed electrician. He also worked for several years as an industrial truck driver. Prior to the service, he was a butter maker in Wisconsin. Doug was a former resident of North Reading for 63 years and he loved Harley Davidson motor cycling since 1957.
He was a member of the USS Bristol Veterans’ Association, American Legion Post No. 234, Harley Davidson Association and the USS Cassin Young Volunteers in Charlestown.
He was the loving husband of Holly G. (Lechtur) Lipert and the late Marianne E. (Silva) Lipert. He was the loving father of Lori Jean Lipert Berg of Chelmsford; Brad Lipert of Chesapeake, Virginia; Jeffrey Lipert of Navarre, Florida; and Douglas Lipert of Sanford, Maine. Family members also include his brothers, Carrington and Jerry Lipert, his late sister, Peggy Lee Lipert; seven grandchildren: Mark, Joel, Lee Ann, Skyla, JD, Jackie, Ryan and Samantha, and five great-grandchildren: Makala, Madison, Victoria, Quinlan and Xander.
Graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements by the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading.
