MELROSE — Mayor Paul Brodeur encourages Melrose residents to register to vote ahead of the 2022 State Election, which will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2022. The deadline to register to vote is Saturday, October 29, and the vote by mail application deadline is November 1, 2022.
Polls will be open in Melrose on November 8 from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Melrose’s centralized voting location: Melrose Middle School Gymnasium, located at 360 Lynn Fells Parkway.
To participate in state primaries, state elections, city and town preliminaries, city and town elections, and regularly scheduled town meetings, registration must take place at least 10 days before the scheduled election. “During the last state midterm election, Melrose saw approximately 15,000 residents turn out to vote. That is 5,000 more Melrose voters than in the last state primary,” said Mayor Paul Brodeur. “The first step to exercising your right to vote is registering to vote. As increasing civic engagement in Melrose, including among younger voters, is one of my priorities. my hope is that all Melrose residents, who are 18 years or older, will exercise their right to vote in our upcoming election.”
On the ballot this year are Representative in Congress, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, State Auditor, Governor’s Council, State Senator, State Representative, District Attorney, Sheriff, County Commissioner (only in certain counties), statewide ballot questions.

In-person early voting in Melrose will take place in the Melrose City Council Chamber, located in City Hall at 562 Main Street. The dates and times for in-person early voting is as follows:
