Frances A. Morse

Had a keen sense of humor and quick wit, had a love for a quiet life

IPSWICH — Born Frances A. Roberts, January 21, 1925, of Ipswich, formerly of Wakefield, daughter of the late Roy and Hilda (Porter) Roberts formerly of Saugus, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on November 15, 2022 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Frances was predeceased by James R. Morse, her loving husband of 61 years. The young couple was blessed with three daughters, Ellen Schwartz and her husband Michael of Russiaville, Indiana, Emily Keough and her husband David of Ipswich, and Sarah Phaneuf of Chicopee. Frances took great pride in her five grandchildren, Jason Keough and his wife Makiko of Ipswich, James Keough of Marina Del Rey, Calif., Tasha Gunnarsson and her husband Oli of Boxford, Mollie Foisy and her husband Chad of Belchertown and George Phaneuf of Chicopee. She adored her seven great grandchildren, Emiliana and Gabriel of Boxford, Cameron and Austin Keough of Marina Del Rey, Calif., Asuka Keough of Ipswich and Anthony and Lina Foisy of Belchertown.

Frances was one of the last true homemakers of her generation. She graduated first in her class from the School of Life and graciously passed her knowledge and important lessons on to all those she met. Frances, “honest and truly”, had a love for a quiet life, tending to the needs of her family, enjoying long walks and bike rides, reveling in the beauty of oceans and mountains, appreciating music, gardening and keeping a life’s list of bird sightings and books read.

Fittingly, Frances had a keen sense of humor and a quick wit and she stayed sharp minded until the very end. She was a faithful friend to many and had an amazing ability to create meaningful friendships with only one interaction. If you were lucky enough to have known Frances…you were lucky enough.

Her funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 30 in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich. Family and friends are cordially welcomed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Massachusetts Audubon Society https://web.massaudubon.org/site/Donation2 and or Care Dimensions, Ste. B-102, 75 Sylvan St, Danvers, MA 01923.
