North Reading falls to Pentucket 17-2 (May 15)
North Reading falls to Triton 11-7 on Senior Night (May 11)

MEDFORD — In a non-league match on Tuesday afternoon, the North Reading High boys’ lacrosse team rolled over host Medford by a final of 12-2.
With that win, the Hornets improved to 4-9 overall.
“The defense was outstanding and Dave (Tran) was great in net,” said Hornets head coach Chuck Campobasso, as Tran recorded a season-high 18 saves.
The Hornets led this one, 5-0, at the half as they outscored the Mustangs, 7-2, in the second stanza.
Logan Lamont led the offense with four goals and one assist while PJ Conte had three goals and one assist. Teddy Suny also recorded a hat trick while Sam Morelli had two goals and one assist.
Shawn Connolly, CJ Villaroel and Blake McMeniman all added one assist each.
The day before, the Hornets lost another non-league game as they fell, 9-4, to visiting Belmont .
“We have been playing them for a long time and this is the best Belmont team I have seen,” said Campobasso.
The Marauders led this game 4-0 at the half as they led wire-to-wire. Suny and Lamont both scored twice while Morelli and Matt Young each had one assist.
Tran made nine saves.
On May 5, the Hornets lost at Ipswich by a final of 13-8.
North Reading fell to 2-7 in the Cape Ann League with that loss. The Tigers, meanwhile, improved to 5-2 overall and 5-1 in the CAL.
“We made some mistakes and the game got away from us,” said Campobasso, whose squad trailed 8-2 at the half.
Conte had three goals and one assist while Morelli had two goals and one assist. Lamont had one goal and one assist while Young and Connolly had the two other goals. Suny had one assist.
Tran had 16 saves.
On May 3, the Hornets lost to rival Lynnfield, 15-2, at home as the Pioneers were able to complete the season sweep.
“They have a very athletic team,” said Campobasso, as the Pioneers led 7-1 at the break.
Lamont and Young had the two Hornet goals while Tran had seven stops.
On May 11, the Hornets host Triton at 5:30 p.m. They then visit Pentucket on May 15 with that game starting at 4:30 p.m.
On May 17, the Hornets visit Newburyport with that game also staring at 4:30 p.m.
North Reading entered this week seeded 29th in the MIAA Division 3 power rankings. The top 32 teams, regardless of record, automatically qualify for the states.
