Loved golf
MELROSE —Myles J. Lane Sr, passed away on June 11 at the age of 74. Myles was born and raised in Melrose to two proud parents Francis and Edith Lane.
Myles was an alumnus of the Melrose High School class of 1966. In his time there, Myles was on the 1963 golf team that won the state championship and was later elected to the Melrose High School Hall of Fame in 2011.
Myles graduated from Northeastern University. Upon graduation, Myles embarked on a 40+ year career in healthcare sales, known most notably for his time at Thermo Fisher Scientific. A true salesman at heart, his family affectionately called him the road warrior.
He loved his family, they could depend on him for anything. Myles loved the game of golf. Myles was a lefty golfer and was a staple of the Massachusetts golfing scene throughout his life. He believed in strictly following all the rules of golf and making sure everyone else did too!
His family will miss him. Myles leaves behind his wife Valerie (Viveiros) Lane; his daughter Anna Rose Lane (Rosie); and his son Myles James Lane Jr and his wife Elizabeth. Myles was the beloved ‘Pop’ to two grandchildren: Myles James Lane lll and Valerie Estelle Gildin. Myles also leaves behind his siblings: Francis Lane; Kevin Lane; and the late Edie Lane, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours were held at The Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., on Wednesday, June 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. Procession from the Gately Funeral home on Thursday, June 15 at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Burial followed at Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan St., Melrose.
