Enjoyed gardening and making his own wine
MELROSE — Giuseppe S. Fierro, 85 of Braintree passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 22. He was born in Apice, Italy on February 9, 1938 to his parents Antonia (De Isio) and Angelo Fierro. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fedele of Apice, Italy; his sister Carmela of Bonito, Italy and his sister Anna of Naples, Italy.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Teresa (Guglielmucci) Fierro; daughter Antonietta Fierro-Sarno and her husband Carmine; son Angelo Fierro and his wife Lori; and daughter Josie Burns and her husband Brad. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Joseph, Anthony and Sabrina. He leaves behind his brother, Antonio Fierro of Boston.
Giuseppe came to this country in 1971 with his family. They brought with them few belongings but a boatload of hopes and dreams. Giuseppe worked as a tailor his whole life. He owned and operated the family’s dry cleaning and alteration shop, Jackson Cleaners in Melrose for 20 years.
Giuseppe loved spending time with his loved ones, he loved gardening, hunting, forging for mushrooms and making his own wine. He did his best to keep alive all the traditions of the old country.
Relatives and friends were invited to greet the family on Friday, July 28 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, 40 Sea St. (off Rt. 3A, Bicknell Square). A funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, July 28 in St. Johns’ Church, 44 School St., Quincy at 11 a.m. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
