LYNNFIELD — Last Saturday, the Lynnfield 8-year-old baseball All-Stars improved to 5-0 in the Stan Brown Tournament as they beat Hamilton-Wenham 3-1 at Moulton Field in Danvers.

Hamilton-Wenham scored the game’s first run in the top of the third inning but Lynnfield tied it in the bottom of the third.

Marty Shields, who singled to reach base, stole home to knot the score.

The other two runs were also scored with runners stealing home. In the fourth Max Polansky stole home for the team’s first lead.

TJ Pagos then stole home in the fifth for the third run.

Polansky reached as he was hit by a pitch, while Pagos walked.

Polansky was the winning pitcher going the final 2 1/3 innings. He did not allow a hit, gave up three walks and he struck out five.

“It was a gutty performance,” said Lynnfield head coach Rob O’Hara, whose son Charlie is the catcher. “He threw strikes and got ahead of the hitters.”

Lynnfield won despite having only a pair of hits.

On Aug. 3, Lynnfield blanked Gloucester 6-0 also at Moulton Field.

Lynnfield scored once in the top of the third and added five more in the fourth.

Korbin O’Bleanes, who has pitched four games in this tournament, was the story as he pitched the first 4 1/3 innings to get the win. He gave up no hits, no walks and he fanned 13.

“He dominated,” said O’Hara, about the lefty. “He is our ace and he controlled the zone with his fastball.”

The Lynnfield offense had seven hits with Genaro Antonelli being the lone multiple hitter going 2 for 2 with a walk and one run scored.

Luca Mandell was 1 for 2 with a walk. His hit was an RBI single in the fifth inning. Jonathan Hill was also 1 for 2 and he also had a RBI single in the fifth.

This Saturday morning at 11 a.m., Lynnfield will play either Gloucester or Hamilton-Wenham for the tournament championship.

If they win, they are the champions, if they lose they play a second game (date unknown as of press time) as it is a double-elimination tournament.

“Hopefully, we can get the job done on Saturday,” said O’Hara.
