Household Hazardous Waste Day Oct. 21

NORTH READING — The town’s annual Household Hazardous Waste Day is this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Richard F. Spindler DPW Complex, 166 Chestnut St.

This special collection enables residents of North Reading only to properly dispose of household quantities of hazardous materials at no charge such as oil-based paints, fuels, solvents/adhesives, pesticides and chemicals. Also accepted will be products containing mercury (thermometers/thermostats), fluorescent bulbs, waste oil/fluids, roofing tar, car wax/polishes, swimming pool chemicals and fertilizers.

A nominal fee will be charged for the disposal of propane tanks (spuds: $15 or gas grill size 20lbs.: $25 ) and tires (auto/bike/motorcycle: $3 ea.; truck over 17.5” $20 ea.; and OTR/loader: $200).
