NORTH READING — In just three weeks, the streets of North Reading will fill with runners participating in the 14th running of the North Reading 5K Turkey Trot. Congratulations if you are one of the more than 800 individuals that have signed up for the Thanksgiving morning race this year!
If you are waiting, go to www.northreadingturkeytrot.com to join your neighbors and friends. Register by midnight Sunday, Nov. 5 to enjoy low entry fees and to guarantee receipt of a long-sleeve performance t-shirt in the size you want! (Shirts will not be guaranteed if registering after this date).
The race will be capped at 1,500 participants and starts promptly at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23 at Ipswich River Park. Online registration will continue through noon, Sunday, Nov. 19, or until the 1,500-registrant threshold is reached.
The Elementary School Challenge is on, as each school will strive to get 20% of the student population to participate on race day.
COSTUME CONTEST
We will be conducting the costume contest again this year. A gift certificate to Joker’s Wild North Reading will be presented to three participants judged to be wearing great, interesting costumes during the race. These certificates will be awarded on race day!
FOOD PANTRY DRIVE
Continuing our involvement with the North Reading Middle School Early Act Club, food items, personal supplies, and household cleaning products will be collected for the CCS North Reading Food Pantry at the pre-race bib pick-up on Tuesday, Nov. 21 from 4-7 p.m. at NRHS. If you can donate non-perishable items, it will be greatly appreciated. Check out the Food Pantry’s website for more information on needs in the community: nrfoodpantry.org
