NORTH READING — Three members of the North Reading High School Class of 2024 – Bhagyavi Bandara, Andrew Mountain and Aiden Patel – were recently recognized as Commended Students in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship program.
A Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, was presented to these bright and talented seniors.
Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation were recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of students who entered the 2024 competition by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Although they will not continue in the 2024 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success and, according to the NMSC, they represent “a valuable national resource.” Therefore, recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in the nation and the NMSC hopes that this well-deserved recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.
The NMSC is a non-profit organization that was established in 1955 specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship program and operates without government assistance.
