LYNNFIELD — A sunny but cold morning greeted the 300-plus attendees who laced up their sneakers and participated in Lynnfield Rotary’s recent Turkey Trot 5K Road Race and Kids Fun Run.

Lynnfield Rotary co-sponsored the Turkey Trot along with the Julie Routhier Foundation and the Lynnfield Moms Group. The Turkey Trot 5K featured a record number of participants.

All proceeds from the Turkey Trot will go towards supporting scholarships for Lynnfield High School graduating seniors. The Julie Routhier Foundation added a third scholarship for a deserving LHS senior who is looking to enter the teaching profession. The scholarship is named for Julie Routhier, a young mother who lost her life to cancer last year.

Dressed in full Turkey attire, Lynnfield Rotary Co-President Christine Travers, who chaired the event, opened the ceremonies with words of appreciation for the racers, the Julie Routhier Foundation, the Lynnfield Moms Group, and committee members including the Lynnfield High School Rotary Interact Club, which facilitated the registration process this year. Travers ended her brief remarks by thanking the Lynnfield community for their support.
