THE BATCHELDER SCHOOL’S third graders paid tribute to the country’s veterans with Veterans’ Day assemblies held for students and their families. Under the direction of music teacher Christine Morgan, they performed the national anthem, a medley of military and patriotic songs, including “Grand Old Flag,” “Yankee Doodle Dandy” and “America the Beautiful,” which they also performed in sign language, and “The 50 Nifty United States.” Their Veterans’ Day posters were on display and many of their interviews with veterans or original poems about the holiday were read aloud.
