US Marine Corps veteran who loved golfing and skiing

AMESBURY — In loving memory of James Harry “Jim” Moccia, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, age 70, passed away on December 19, 2023, at his home in Amesbury. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 18, 1953, in Melrose, he was the son of the late John Walter Moccia and the late Jeanne (Evangelista) Moccia. He dedicated 32 years of his life working for the Wakefield Police Department before retiring. Jim was a proud veteran, having served with the United States Marine Corps from November 13, 1972 until his honorable discharge on August 30, 1974 with the rank of Lance Corporal.

He had a passion for golfing and skiing, but above all else, he cherished spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Lynne (Dwyer) Moccia, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He also leaves behind his two loving daughters: Janine Moccia and Janelle Audet, along with her husband Edmond, all of Amesbury. Jim took great pride in his role as a grandfather and leaves behind two grandchildren: Ian Audet and Ethan Audet, both of Amesbury. Jim is predeceased by his brother, John Walter Moccia, III. He will be deeply missed by his entire family and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jim will forever be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering love for his family and his zest for life. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, January 6 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Ave., Amesbury. Funeral services will be private for the family.
