PEABODY — Last Saturday afternoon, the Lynnfield-North Reading-Peabody High co-op girls’ hockey team beat guest Masconomet, 5-2, at the McVann-O’Keefe Rink in Peabody.

PLNR was able to sweep the season series against the Chieftains this winter as they beat them 5-0 in the fist meeting on Jan. 10 at the Haverhill Valley Forum.

The Tanners, who won their seventh-straight game, improved to 9-1 overall and 9-0 in the Northeastern Hockey League. Masco, meanwhile, fell to 5-6 overall and 3-6 in the league.

Alexa Pepper scored the game’s first goal assisted by Ava Buckley 4:06 into the first period.

In the second period, Buckley made it 2-0 with Daniella White assisting just 12 seconds in.

White then scored on the power play 1:24 in with Pepper assisting.

Maddie Kenny got the Chieftains on the scoreboard 6:40 in with Bella Campbell assisting to make it 3-1.

With 3:14 remaining in the second, Yasmine Giacalone lit the lamp to make it 4-1. Erin Dee and Abby McInerney were credited with the assists.

Vanessa Steinmeyer then scored another power-play goal with 17 seconds left in the second assisted by Eleni Spack.

Campbell had the other Chieftain tally assisted by Bella Malloy two minutes into the third but that was as close as the visitors would come.

PLNR out-shot Masco 46-14 as Tanner goalie, Alyse Mutti, made 12 stops to go to 9-1.

On Jan. 24, the Tanners will take on host Gloucester at the Talbot Rink at 4 p.m. They then host Beverly-Danvers on Jan. 27 with that game starting at noon.
