NORTH READING — Dana Owen, author of “Shot Gunned” and a former resident of North Reading, will be the guest speaker at “Mondays on the Move,” the Senior Center program held at the satellite location, the Aldersgate Church, 235 Park St., on Monday, Feb. 12.
Seniors are invited to attend lunch at noon followed by Owen’s presentation at 12:45 p.m.
Owen was a police officer for 27 years. From 1970 to 1992, he served the former Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) Police Department in Boston, Massachusetts and retired as a Sergeant and the Amorer of the Massachusetts State Police in 1997.
In 1975, he and his partner were awarded the Medal of Valor for bravery. “Shot Gunned,” co-written with Ron Gollobin and Athena Z. Yerganian, recalls the true story of Owen being shotgunned twice, in the head, and left for dead while he pursued a hijacked truck with a hostage inside. His story details his survival and ultimately his quest to bring the fugitives to justice before the statute of limitations ran out.
To make a reservation for lunch ($2 suggested donation) and to attend this free program call the Senior Center at 978-664-5600.
