With that result, the Hornets’ record went to 8-1-1 overall. Malden Catholic, a Division 2 team, went to 9-1-1 with the tie.
The Hornets had to rally in the second half to pull out the tie as they trailed, 2-0, at the half.
The Lancers scored twice in the second quarter with 9:38 and 7:05 left.
Willow Reyen got the locals on the scoreboard with 7:55 remaining in the third quarter.
Then, with only 41 seconds left in the game, Maddie Lambert tied it in a scrum in front of the Lancer net.
“They are an aggressive team and we were not ready in the first half,” explained Hornets head coach Mikayla Allen. “We made the adjustments we needed to make at the half and I was very proud of the way we came back. It felt like a win for us.”
Hornet goalie, Thea Panousos, made three saves to go to 8-1-1.
The game at Amesbury scheduled for Monday was postponed due to the weather (make up date unknown as of press time).
