LYNNFIELD — Girl Scout Troop 82559 recently celebrated their Bridging ceremony on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City.

“Bridging” is a beloved Girl Scout tradition that honors girls’ achievements in Scouting and celebrates their “crossing the bridge” to advance to the next level of Girl Scouts.

Troop 82559 wanted to celebrate their move up from Girl Scout seniors to the highest level of Girl Scouting, the Ambassador level, in a grand way. The high school juniors had already planned to use funds earned from years of cookie sales to attend a Broadway show in New York City. When the idea of the “Brooklyn Bridging” was proposed, the girls all agreed it would be a very special way to commemorate this milestone.

While taking in breathtaking views of the city lights, the Scouts took physical and symbolic steps toward their future as they crossed the mile-long Brooklyn Bridge. Reaching the other side of the bridge was a defining moment for the troop as they began looking ahead with enthusiasm and optimism to new adventures and responsibilities as Girl Scout Ambassadors.

“Congratulations to all of these amazing young women on their Bridging,” said Troop 82559 Leader Diane Courtney. “I look forward to supporting you as your Girl Scout journey continues.”
