Helen Ventura, 95

WAKEFIELD — Helen M. Ventura, 95, a lifelong resident of Wakefield died Wednesday, October 16 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.

Born in Wakefield, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Nella (Valvo) DeMarco. Helen was a graduate of Wakefield High School class of 1947. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish. After graduating high school, Helen spent time as a local hairstylist in Wakefield before marrying and raising a family of three sons. She then juggled her time between raising a family and helping manage the family’s guitar studio. However, what she enjoyed most was being a wife and mother and especially being “Grammie” to her grandchildren whom she adored.

Helen was the beloved wife of the late Ray Ventura. She was the loving mother of Joseph Ventura and Kathie Hannigan of Stoneham; James Ventura and Kim Fay also of Stoneham; and Robert Ventura and Cindy of Reading. She was the sister of the late Lana Evangelista. She is also survived by her two grandchildren Jamie Kureta and husband Brian; and Kyle Ventura.

Helen’s funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading on Wednesday, October 23 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the church prior to the mass from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
