‘Melrose in WWII’ at MHS next week

MELROSE — For the first time since before the COVID pandemic, the Melrose Veterans Memory Project is running an event to be held Thursday, February 13, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Melrose High Learning Commons.

“Melrose in World War II” will be an evening of reflection and will include:

• World War II — Voices of Service, an exhibition produced by the Gilder Lehrman Institute for American History

• A display of artifacts celebrating the service and contributions of local World War II veterans including Mayor James Milano, Richard Flannigan, Irving Smolens, Admiral Forrest P. Sherman and others

• The keynote address, “What It Means to Serve,” will be given by MSgt. (Ret.) Paul Dyson, USA, MAANG, senior lecturer III, UMass-Boston.

The snow date will be Thursday, February 27 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Melrose High Learning Commons.
