The Wakefield Human Rights Commission (HRC) invites you to a forum commemorating International Women’s Day on Thursday, March 6, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The program will be presented in The Savings Bank Theatre at Wakefield Memorial High School and simulcast by WCAT for those unable to attend in person. The conversations will continue with a reception and light snacks after the program.
A panel of accomplished women will share their experiences and work in relation to this year’s theme of “Accelerating Action.” Our panelists, all who have pushed the needle in their spheres of influence, include …
• Linda Snow Dockser, Ph.D., a former Reading School Committee member; advocate for social justice.
• Saritin Rizzuto, a board member of East Boston Social Centers; a community organizer.
• Caitriona Fitzgerald, Attorney specializing in privacy law; local community organizer in Wakefield.
• Laura Wilson, Chairperson of PopHuddle in Reading; local organizer and activist.
• Reverend Dr. Susanne Intriligator, minister of the Melrose UU Church; spiritual leader and social justice advocate.
Others will be announced.
In the face of the current, rapidly changing world, our panelists will discuss the many ways to take action in our community and beyond: ask questions, share information, be inspired by the work of others to create and maintain a strong community where all are welcome and included.
This year’s theme is a call to action to increase efforts to speed up progress toward gender parity; address systemic barriers and biases that impede women’s equality; imagine a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination; create a world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
