Wilcox sets new school record in 1000 meters

Warrior girls’ indoor track concludes season at Meet of Champions

BOSTON — Quin Wilcox continued her debut indoor season for the Warriors with a most impressive performance at the MIAA Meet of Champions on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Wilcox, only a sophomore, proved she is one of the best in Massachusetts with a stellar 3rd place finish in the 1000 meters. She ran a school record time of 3:00.18 to break the record previously held by recent 2022 standout Sammy Seabury who is currently having success competing for Boston University.

Earlier this season, Wilcox captured the 600 meter school record running 1:39.85.

Wakefield’s 4×800 meter relay team of Lily Sallee, Ella Ferrell, Laurel Renzi and Wilcox placed 13th with a time of 10:10.39.

Next month, the same 4×800 meter relay team qualified for Nike Nationals in New York City with their earlier season time of 10:01.

The sprint medley relay team that includes Sallee, Wilcox, Abby Hartigan and Talia Galante will also head to Nationals.
