MELROSE — Next week, Mayor Jen Grigoraitis will convene the first meeting of her administration’s newly constituted Financial Task Force. This advisory group, led by the City’s Chief Financial Officer and the School Department Business Manager, will also include the mayor, superintendent of schools and members of the City Council and School Committee.
“In 2025, Melrose is continuing to face a variety of rising costs outpacing flattened revenue growth. To achieve a balanced budget, we will need to make additional cuts, which will have a significant impact on every City department and for people across our community,” said Mayor Grigoraitis. “I’m grateful to the members of our new Financial Task Force for shouldering the important task of charting a path towards a revenue plan that can meet our City’s needs in the years ahead.”
The task force will take in public feedback and develop potential revenue plans, including seeking a Proposition 2 1⁄2 override question or questions on the November 4, 2025 municipal election ballot. Any Melrose community member wishing to share feedback or input with the task force and the Grigoraitis Administration should email budget@cityofmelrose.org.
The Financial Task Force will be chaired by City of Melrose CFO/Auditor Kerri Golden and Melrose Public Schools Business Manager Ken Kelley. Mayor Grigoraitis has appointed Superintendent of Schools Adam Deleidi, City Council President Leila Migliorelli, City Council Appropriations Chair Mark Garipay, School Committee Chair Dorie Withey, and School Committee Vice-Chair Jen McAndrew to serve on the task force.
