
WAKEFIELD — The season recently concluded in the state tournament for Wakefield High’s three power ranked winter sports teams.
The girls’ and boys’ basketball teams dropped first round matchups in their respective tournament openers on Thursday night.
The boys’ hockey team fell in the Round of 16 on Saturday.
The 22-ranked icemen advanced to the second round after an impressive 5-1 victory on the road over No. 11 Methuen on Wednesday. The Warriors took on No. 6 Bedford on Saturday at the Edge Sports Center and came up short, 5-0. Wakefield concluded their season with an overall record of 3-17-2.
The No. 16 girls’ basketball team hosted No. 17 Bishop Fenwick in a first round matchup on Thursday night. After an exciting, back-and-forth game between two evenly matched teams, the Crusaders came out on top, 48-43. The girls ended up with an overall record of 15-6.
The No. 20 boys’ basketball team had a long bus ride out to No. 13 Holyoke for a first round game on Thursday night. Holyoke took over in the 3rd quarter and ran away with a 93-56 victory.
The boys ended up at 10-11 overall.
