NORTH READING — In an effort to offset the energy consumption of North Reading High School the school’s Eco Team is running a “Tree-Plenish” event.
They will be taking orders for saplings until Thursday, March 13 in preparation for the planting that will take place Sunday, April 13. They have a goal of 200 orders in order to offset the school’s 240 annual tons of carbon emissions. There are three tree saplings from which supporters can choose when ordering: Eastern Redbud, Flowering Dogwood or Red Maple.
The Eco Team is urging all residents to order a sapling and volunteer at the event to contribute to a healthy North Reading environment and learn more about the planting process. NRHS juniors and seniors also have an opportunity to gain volunteer hours.
