NORTH READING — As we enter the final stretch for candidates to get on the May 6 Town Election ballot, one incumbent pulled papers to retain his seat and two more candidates have had their nomination papers certified by the Town Clerk’s office.

On March 6, incumbent CPC Chairman David Rudloff pulled papers for one of the two 3-year seats on the board.

Also this week, as of press time, the nomination papers for both Select Board candidate Catherine Morrin and incumbent CPC member Warren Pearce Jr. were certified.  They join Select Board candidates Rich Wallner (incumbent), Jeffrey Griffin and Michael Scarlata; School Committee candidate Jeffrey Friedman (incumbent); and Community Planning Commissioner Edward Sheehan (interim incumbent), candidate for the 2-year seat as certified candidates.

Candidates who have pulled nomination papers but had not yet returned them as of press time Wednesday are: John Murphy for Moderator (incumbent); Noelle Rudloff for School Committee (incumbent); David Rudloff (incumbent) for CPC Kathryn Manupelli for Select Board; Charles Carucci Sr. for Housing Authority; and Jonathon Coste for the 2-year seat on the Community Planning Commission.

Candidates who seek to run for elective office in the town’s annual election have another five days — until Tuesday, March 18 at 5 p.m. — to return their nomination papers to the Town Clerk’s Office at Town Hall.

At least 50 certified town-wide signatures are required (per MGL c53, §7). Town Clerk Susan Duplin recommends that all candidates obtain more than 50 signatures in case some of those signatures are not certifiable.

The elective offices on the May 6 Town Election ballot are:

Town Moderator, 1-year term – vote for one. (Incumbent is John Murphy.)

Select Board, 3-year term – vote for two. (Incumbents are Liane Gonzalez and Richard Wallner.)

School Committee, 3-year term – vote for two. (Incumbents are Jeffrey Friedman and Noelle Rudloff.)

Community Planning Commission (CPC), 3-year term – vote for two. (Incumbents are David Rudloff and Warren Pearce.)

Community Planning Commission (CPC), 2-year term – vote for one (to fill a vacancy created after Ryan Carroll moved from town last fall.)

Housing Authority, 5-year term – vote for one. (Incumbent is Michele Mawn.)
