BOSTON — Giuliana Ligor achieved All-American status for the second year in a row scoring 3,568 points in the Pentathlon and placing 4th overall at the New Balance Indoor Track and Field Championship. Igor’s score was the sixth highest point total scored throughout the entire season across the country.
Callie MacLellan also competed in the event scoring 3,209 points which placed her 14th in the meet and was the 18th highest point total scored this season in the country.
Competing in the Pentathlon is an arduous task as athletes are required to compete in a total of five events across a 5-hour time period starting with the 55 Meter Hurdles, followed by the High Jump, Long Jump and Shot Put and ending with the 800 Meter Run.
Giuliana and Callie teamed up with Hayden MacLellan and Katie Zimmerman 48 hours later and competed in the 4×55 Meter Shuttle Hurdles. The relay team had an impressive performance running the race in 34.48 seconds which smashed the previous North Reading record by over two seconds and placed 7th overall, just missing the podium as All Americans, which is reserved for the top six teams.
These girls capped off a tremendous indoor track and field season with these performances and started their outdoor track and field seasons the following day on March 17.
