Local author talk on the history of Rte. 128

NORTH READING — We’ve all spent hours and hours stuck in traffic on 128. But how many of us know when it was built? Or how its construction impacted North Reading, Wakefield, Lynnfield, and Reading?

On Thursday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Edith O’Leary Senior Center (Third Meeting House, 157 Park St.) local history buff Bob McLaughlin will speak on the history of Route 128 as the guest speaker of the North Reading Historical and Antiquarian Society.

A Society member, McLaughlin has written five books on the evolution of smaller theme parks across the United States. His expertise on Wakefield’s Pleasure Island (1959-1969) is unrivaled. All are welcome!
