David Shaw, Jr., 63

US Army veteran

STONEHAM — David M. Shaw, Jr., of Stoneham, formerly of Seabrook, NH, passed away at home suddenly on April 4 at the age of 63. David was born in Malden to the late David M. Shaw, Sr. and the late Carol A. Shaw on December 10, 1961 and was later raised in Melrose.

David was a 1980 graduate of Northeast Vocational High School in Wakefield. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Following his three years of service, David spent cherished time in Saratoga Springs where he raised several thoroughbred horses. His love for working in the food industry sparked at a young age when he owned his first canteen truck. He was an avid chef that worked in many restaurants including the Hilltop and Top of the Hub. He later worked as a chef at Eastman’s and opened Kate O’Shea’s with his dear friend Merrilee.

David loved all sports, but was a devoted hockey fan. He was happiest on the beach as some of his favorite times were spent living in Seabrook. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was the loving father of Derek Shaw and his wife Katelyn; predeceased by his son Brandon Shaw; and caring father figure of Jessica Shaw. Cherished grandfather of Addison. Devoted brother of John Shaw and his wife Teresa and his late sister Ann Marie Molbeck. Caring uncle of Ashley Catalano and her husband T.J. and Cassandra Shaw. Great uncle to Autumn, Brady and Adeline. David also leaves behind his closest friends Sean Layden, Peter Kelly and Merrilee Eastman, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Family and friends will be invited to a Celebration of Life to honor David at a later date. To sign online condolence, visit gatelyfh.com.
