MELROSE — Reaching a 75th wedding anniversary is a rare and extraordinary milestone — only about 1,000 couples in the U.S. can say they’ve done it! This year, Rudy and Arline Lizotte of Melrose joined this exclusive club, celebrating their diamond anniversary on April 15th, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Their love story began in Maine, where both Rudy and Arline were born and raised. It all started with a simple yet sweet gesture—Rudy would walk past Arline’s house every day until she finally noticed him noticing her. And the rest, as they say, is history.
In the late 1950s, the couple relocated to Massachusetts, settling in Newton, where they raised four sons. Then, 25 years ago, they made Melrose their home, becoming active and cherished members of their church community and the Milano Senior Center.
A shared love for travel took them on countless adventures across the country — whether by plane, train, or cruise ship — they embraced every journey together.
But today, the greatest joys of their love story come from spending time with their seven adult grandchildren, six great-grandkids, and their beloved granddogger, Jasper.
After seven and a half decades of love, laughter, and a lifetime of memories, Rudy and Arline continue to inspire everyone around them with their enduring bond.
Here’s to a love that stands the test of time!
