
WOBURN — The Warrior boys’ track and field team had a convincing win over rival Melrose with a score of 83-53 on Wednesday at Woburn High.
Wakefield opened up the meet with a sweep in the 400 meter hurdles. Brody Wyatt was first with a time of 59.9, Evan Buonopane-Cohen was second with a time of 62.7 and Aidan Martin was third with a time of 63.6.
In the mile, Ethan Mezikofsky placed second with a time of 4:40.
In the 110 hurdles, Brody Wyatt was first with a very fast time of 15.6 and Aidan Martin was second with a fast time of 17.3.
In the 100 meters, Jackson Conley was third in 11.5.
The Warriors swept the 400 meters with Isaac Melo running 54.5. Henry Brown was second with a time of 55.6 and Evan Buonopane-Cohen was third with a time of 57.0.
In the javelin, Carter Jefferson was second with a throw of 136’5 and Sean Callanan was third with a throw of 130’3.
In the shot put, Frankie Sullivan placed first in 47’8.5”. Jefferson was second in big personal best of 41’6.75”. Brown was third in 35’3.25.

Sullivan was also first in the discus with a throw of 108’4.
In the 800 meters, Mezikofsky placed first with a time of 2:07.7. Aidan Burd was second in 2:08.7.
Brody Wyatt was second in the 200 meters with a time of 22.9.
In the 2 mile, Brandon Nett was second with a time of 10:20.2.
In the triple jump, JaMauri Belmer placed first in 40’9.25”. Jefferson was second jumping 38’8.5”. Michael Mititchev was third jumping a personal best of 36’9”.
Belmer took second in the long jump with a 20’4 and Aiden Jones was third with a jump of 19’1.
In the high jump, Belmer was second with a jump of 5’10.
The pole vault was contested yesterday in Burlington but it was not scored. Henry Brown had a personal best of 11, Ryan Hogan jumped 10, Jimmy Fabbri jumped 9’6 and Michael Brown jump 6’6.
In the 4×400 meter relay, the team of Melo, Burd, Martin and Conley placed first in 3:45.1.
Wakefield improved to 2-0 on the season with their win over Melrose. They will spend April Vacation week preparing for Wilmington (2-0). The Wildcats and Warriors will meet on April 29, 4 p.m. at Reading High.
