Multiple strong performances for boys’ track team in season-opening loss to Ipswich

Update after press time: Lynnfield defeats Hamilton-Wenham 77.5-67.5 (April 29)

IPSWICH — The Lynnfield High boys’ track and field team lost its season opener, 81-63, at Ipswich on April 16.

“Despite the loss, we had a few good performances,” said Pioneers head coach Bill Wallace.

The Pioneers had seven individual 1st-place finishes led by Eli Mendese who recorded three of them. He had a toss of 39-11 in the shot put, a throw of 132-8 in the javelin and a high jump of six feet.

Jessie Dorman won the 100-meters with a state qualifying time of 11.63. 

Dillon Reilly captured the 200-meters at 24.08.

His brother, Brendan, was first in the long jump at 18-3 while Nick Kelter qualified for the states with a triple jump of 43-05.

Lynnfield swept the 100-meters as Dillon Reilly was second (11.78) while Brendan Reilly placed third (11.94).

In the 400-meters, Kevin Keyes was second (56.96) while Jacob Book was third (1:00.75).

Kenneth-Waldron Price was third in the 110-hurdles (20.93) and took second in the 400 hurdles (1:09.33).

Marko Tare was third in the 400 hurdles at 1:11.82).

Max Nastari captured second in the javelin with a throw of 114-3 while Alex Fleming was third in the shot put at 36-2.

Ben Gazit was third in the discus with a toss of 84-5 while Oliver Harth was third in the long jump at 16-6.

The 4×100 relay team also won with a time of 47.58.

The Pioneers have this week off as they return to action on April 29 when they host Hamilton-Wenham at 4 p.m.
