
EASTON — Saturday was a busy day for the Wakefield High boys’ track and field team with the Jim Hoar Freshman-Sophomore Invitational starting up early in Easton before the Twilight Invitational in Weston that went until 11 p.m.
At the Freshman-Sophomore Invitational, Evan Buonopane-Cohen had a stellar race in the 400 meter hurdles placing 2nd in a personal best time of 59.53 seconds which is the 3rd fastest sophomore time in Massachusetts.
Jackson Conley placed 7th in the 200 meters with a personal best time of 22.98 seconds.
Michael Mititchev placed 7th in the long jump with a personal best of 19’1”.
Max Laspina jumped 16’7” in the long jump returning from an injury.
Brendan Meahl had a 3 foot personal best in the shot put placing 14th with a throw of 37’0.25”.
In the triple jump, Michael Mititchev placed 11th with a personal best of 37’11”. James Preston placed 19th with a jump of 34’1.5”. Wyatt Timas placed 23rd with a 32’9”.
In the 1 mile, Alec Buonopane-Cohen placed 18th in a time of 4:50.03. John Mititchev ran a personal best of 5:07.42. Zach Davidson had a personal best of 5:11.03.
The 4×100 meter relay team of Michael Mititchev, Preston, Timas and Jake Mastroianni placed 20th with a time of 48.07.
In the evening, the Warrior veterans headed to Weston and Regis College to compete in the Twilight Invitational.
At Regis College, Tyler Galante and Aidan Martin tackled the 2000 meter steeplechase with multiple barriers and water stops to overcome along the way. Galante ran a time of 7:01.46, just 4 seconds off the school record to place 15th. Aidan Martin ran it in 7:56.03.
Aidan Burd ran a personal best of 2:05.30 in the 800 meters.
In the 1 mile, Max Viselli closed very fast over the last 200 meters to run a personal best of 4:41.14. Brandon Nett ran an outdoor best of 4:42.81. Andrew Nett ran a time of 4:48.41. George Palmer ran a time of 4:48.93. Jacob Ciriello ran a time of 4:57.07.
At Weston High School JaMauri Belmer jumped a big personal best in the long jump of 22’1” placing 4th. Aiden Jones jumped a personal best to place 13th, reaching 20’11”.
Carter Jefferson placed 16th in the javelin with a distance of 138’.
The Warriors finished off the night with a 2nd place finish from the Sprint Medley Relay team of Jackson Conley, Isaac Melo, Brody Wyatt and Ethan Mezikofsky racing a time of 3:38.79 at nearly 11 p.m.
The Warriors will battle Burlington for the Freedom Division title today, 4 p.m. at Burlington High as both teams are undefeated.
