LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield High boys’ track and field team won its home opener on April 29 as they beat Hamilton-Wenham, 77.5- 67.5, on a warm, sunny day.
With the win, the Pioneers improved to 1-1.
“There were a lot of great performances against a much-improved Hamilton-Wenham team,” said Lynnfield head coach Bill Wallace.
Eli Mendese led the way for the locals with three wins. The senior was first in the shot put (42-9), javelin (151-3) and high jump (6-4).
All three results qualified him for the states in each event.
Dan Lemieux picked up two wins in the 400-meters (53.7), and long jump (20-9). Lemieux qualified for the states in the long jump.
Nick Kelter broke the school record in the triple jump at 43-11.
Dillon Reilly was first in the 200-meters (23.4) while Jessie Dorman captured first in the 100-meters (11.4) as Lynnfield had eight individual wins.
The 4×100 relay team of Dillon Reilly, Brendan Reilly, Kelter and Dorman won with a time of 45.1 seconds.
Lynnfield had nine 2nd-place finishes, Dillon Reilly in the 100 (11.5), Brendan Reilly in the 200 (23.9), Kenneth Waldron-Price in the 110-meter hurdles (20.5), Marko Tare in the 400-hurdles (1:07.9), Alex Fleming in the shot put (39-3), Dorman in the discus (105-1), Nick Heintz in the high jump (5-2), Matt Squadrito in the pole vault (8-6) and Oliver Harth in the long jump (18-.75).
On Wednesday, the Pioneers host Amesbury at 4 p.m.
