NORTH READING — The Friends of the North Reading Council on Aging (FONRCOA) reminds those residents who pre-registered by Thursday, May 15 to pick up their free tomato plants on Saturday, May 17 from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Edith O’Leary Senior Center, 157 Park St.
This is an annual event for the Friends and it will once again be a drive-through.
Residents—one per household—who signed up by May 15, regardless of age, will be given one free tomato plant with the option to get a second plant for a suggested donation of $5. The plants will come with a detailed instruction sheet on its planting and care.
Call the Senior Center at 978-664-5600 to reserve your plant(s) by end of day on Thursday, May 15.
There will be a choice of cherry tomatoes or BigBoy tomatoes (or equivalent). We will try to accommodate your choice as supply is available.
Please enter the driveway from the library side of Bow Street and exit by the Batchelder School side of the building onto Haverhill Street.
The tomato give away is to raise awareness of the Friends of the North Reading Council on Aging. FONRCOA is a non-profit with a mission to raise funds to support programs for the Senior Center. Membership is open to anyone. All donations are greatly appreciated. Remember, everyone will be a senior someday! We look forward to seeing you all!
