WAKEFIELD — Thanks to your donations, we have many great books ready for you; children’s books, classic mysteries, music and fine arts books, crafting, lots of history and biographies and some really special, high-end books that we refer to as “premium.” This is the largest fundraising event for the Friends and provides the funds to support museum passes, children’s summer reading program, Jazz on the Plaza and so many other things that residents have come to look forward to at the Beebe Library.
The Friends of Beebe Library have hosted donation drives monthly since last fall. After each drive, we sort the books by genre and box them. In the past three weeks, we have been unboxing them, pulling out popular authors and sorting by genre and targeted audience. Sale prices range from 50 cents to $2 but there are some unusual and premium type books at higher prices. There is literally something for all!
The work we do to support the Beebe Library programs is not possible without the many volunteers who have provided us with hundreds of hours of work in the rain, cold temps and snow. We are so grateful to have volunteers who care about the library. The best way to support the Beebe is by using their services and join us as “Friends”. Member applications are available on the Friends of Beebe Library website or FB page.
The book sale opens Wednesday, May 14 from 2 to 7 p.m. for members only and then hours for the public are Thursday and Friday, May 15 and 16 from 2 to 7 p.m. and Saturday. May 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hurd School, 27 Cordis St. at the corner of Pleasant. Admission is free. Please use the handicapped ramp as the main entry for the sale.
