WAKEFIELD — The Wakefield Educational Foundation [WEF] hosted its 29th annual Celebration of Learning on April 16. The in-person event celebrated students, staff and volunteers who exemplify the core values of their schools and go above and beyond in their efforts and contributions to the Wakefield Public School.
Woodville Principal Matthew Carter was pleased to announce eight fourth-grade students who exemplify Woodville’s core values of Celebrating differences, Achieving goals, Respecting their community, Engagement and perseverance and School spirit. He noted that these peer-nominated students were not only leaders in their classrooms, but also throughout Woodville. Congratulations to the following students recognized at the Celebration of Learning: Declan Burns, Declan Holden, Benjamin McDonald, Ella Monaco, Xavier Silva Rebelo, Isabel Sofie Sapuay, Audrey Sessions and Rosie White.

Principal Carter continued the celebration by proudly welcoming his staff nominees Katie Bowers and Clare Boyle to receive their awards. Carter first spoke of Kindergarten teacher Katie Bowers, whose passion, fresh energy and creativity are praised by her colleagues. She “lays the foundation for lifelong learning” and truly makes a lasting difference for the kids. He then spoke of special education teacher Clare Boyle and her dedication to her students. Boyle is known for being compassionate, approachable and kind. She makes everyone feel seen and heard. Principal Carter remarked that both of these teachers truly exemplify what it means to be an educator.

Finally, the proud Woodville Principal introduced volunteer award recipients Vincent Ciarametaro and Edward M. Greeley Jr. He thanked Ciarametaro for his three years of representing Woodville as their mascot “Teddy” the bear with warm morning greetings at arrival, school events and celebrations. He brightens days with his presence and his high fives and has even been spotted about town, bringing delight and Woodville cheer wherever he goes. From the lighthearted to the reverent, Carter next spoke of parent volunteer and US Army Veteran Edward M. Greeley Jr. Greeley has been speaking at Veterans and Memorial Day events at Woodville for the past six years. He is praised for the impactful messaging he brings in a digestible and meaningful way, teaching the value of teamwork, hard work and determination in overcoming challenges. Carter ended his accolades by emphatically thanking Greeley for his powerful message stating, “He has served his country and continues to serve the faculty, staff and students in the Woodville community.” WEF Congratulates Woodville’s student, staff and volunteer honorees.
