“This was one of our stronger matches,” said Pioneers head coach Joe Dunn. “They had to take the ferry and then drive here so, I am sure that took a toll on them because they have a good team.”

In the opening round back on May 28, the Pioneers blanked guest Springfield International Charter School, 5-0.

McCarthy defeated Harry Publo in shutout fashion, 6-0, 6-0, while Kudrimoti  beat Parker Rickson, 6-0, 6-1.

Reinold blanked Jason Phan, 6-0, 6-0, at third singles.

In doubles play, the first team of Arkun and Rishabh Anand beat brothers, Jon and Matto Rivera, 6-2, 6-0.

The second pairing of Emile Coumans and Ashkrit Mahajan blanked Diego Uribe and Dennis Brown. 6-0, 6-0.

“That match went very smoothly,” said Dunn.

With the loss, the 31st-seeded Bulldogs ended the year at 9-6.

Lynnfield will now host either Mystic Valley or Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter in the quarterfinals on Thursday (time unknown as of press time).

In the regular season, the Pioneers went 2-0 against Mystic Valley as they won, 3-2, and 4-1. They did not play Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter this season.

“We know if we face Mystic Valley it will be a tough match,” said Dunn.
