WAKEFIELD — The Div. 4 state champion outdoor boys’ track and field Wakefield Warriors had an incredible, 12 Middlesex League All-Stars this season.
Showcasing the depth that carried the Warriors to a 5-0 regular season record for a Freedom Division title and a thrilling victory in the Div. 4 state championship, Wakefield’s 12 All-Stars were the most in the league.
The Warriors had the co-MVP of the Freedom Division this season as senior Brody Wyatt earned the honor. Wyatt made the All-Star list for his work in multiple events, including the 400 meter hurdles in which he holds the school record with a 57.43.
Junior JaMauri Belmer made the list in two events, the triple jump and the high jump. He set a new school record in the long jump at the state championship with the Warriors tied for first in the final event. His school record leap of 23’6.75” sealed Wakefield’s title.
In addition to Wyatt and Belmer, Wakefield’s All-Stars included seniors Ethan Mezikofsky (800), Andrew Nett (2 mile), Brandon Nett (2 mile), Henry Brown (pole vault) and Frankie Sullivan (shot put), juniors Isaac Melo (400), Carter Jefferson (javelin) and Aiden Jones (at-large) and sophomores Jackson Conley (200) and Evan Buonopane-Cohen (at-large).
Wakefield’s state title was their second in a row and their 3rd state championship in the last four years.
