LYNNFIELD — Lynnfield Middle School celebrated the accomplishments of 168 eighth graders during the recent moving on ceremony.

The middle school held the moving on ceremony in the softball field’s outfield for the second straight year, and featured a large crowd of attendees. Student Council Vice President Kayleigh Allen began the ceremony by leading attendees with reciting the “Pledge of Allegiance.”

Student Council President Ashtyn Haney welcomed families, educators and students to the LMS moving on ceremony.

“We are here because of our success throughout our four years at Lynnfield Middle School,” said Ashtyn. “We will always remember the struggles and accomplishments that have made us into the people we are today.”

Ashtyn said the 168 eighth graders’ four years attending Lynnfield Middle School has been “an experience that has hopefully made us smarter, introduced us to new friends and given us better memories.”

“Whether it was shoe basketball during WIN (What I Need) recess, the Pioneer Games being way too serious or the Freedom Trail throughout Boston, we’ve made memories we will never forget,” said Ashtyn. “After today, middle school will have given us more than just work — it has given us the abilities to learn and connect with each other, and to make an impact on each other’s lives. It’s given us the moments we shared here throughout our four years. We will always remember these moments while making new memories in high school.  And though this may seem like the end to something great, high school will be the start of something new.”

After Ashtyn concluded her speech, the ceremony’s attendees gave her a round of applause.

LMS Principal Stephen Ralston welcomed students, families, educators and school officials to the LMS moving on ceremony.

“I would like to thank our dedicated teachers,” said Ralston.  “I would also like to recognize and thank the Moving On Committee and all of our parent volunteers who have helped make moving on a special time for our eighth graders.”

Ralston recalled that the 168 eighth graders entered LMS as 10-year-olds and are departing as teenagers.

“Middle school can be very challenging and during your time here, you have learned more about yourself than about any subject,” said Ralston.  “Yours is a class small in size, but grand in stature and positivity. As you exit Lynnfield Middle School, I thank you for being a class who has led by example and showed kindness towards one another. I wish you all the best as you enter your next four years as high school students. Seize each opportunity and challenge you face. Get involved, be yourself and know that kindness, effort and citizenship will always serve you well.”

Student Council Secretary Calleigh Reed said the class gifts will be a welcome area rug for the middle school’s front office as well as the traditional plaque containing all of the students’ signatures that will be put on display.

The ceremony concluded with Ralston, Assistant Principal Dana Courtney and eighth grade teachers Alex Cellucci and Adam Stahl presenting certificates to the students.
