LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield Center Water District’s (LCWD) outdoor watering restrictions have been increased to Level 4.
“Watering restrictions are now at a Level 4,” said the LCWD Board of Water Commissioners in a joint statement. “This measure is necessary so that system pressures and potential fire suppression demands can be re-established and maintained at proper operating levels. As a district, we must prioritize these items over use of irrigations systems. We request your cooperation and ask that you adjust outdoor watering accordingly.”
The Water Commissioners added that the LCWD has “maximized production levels of its system.
“District customers must cooperate in order to avoid potential significant issues,” the Water Commissioners continued. “Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Please visit www.lcwd.us for the most up to date information.”
The LCWD is currently constructing the new greensand and PFAS filter plant at the Glen Drive pumping station. The LCWD has also completed water transmission piping improvements to connect the LCWD system with the Wakefield MWRA water source, and is substantially complete with construction of the interconnection vault that will transfer MWRA water to the LCWD.
“The district is now seeking approval of all permitting conditions with state and local agencies to join the MWRA, including passage of the order with the State Legislature,” said LCWD Director John Scenna.
Scenna testified on June 3 before the Joint Committee on Environmental and Natural Resources, where he urged lawmakers to not only approve the request, but to do so “in a timely manner so that water can made available to the district during the anticipated window of high demand this summer.”
