LYNNFIELD — Two Lynnfield High School Class of 2025 graduates were recently given art-based scholarships from the Lynnfield Art Guild (LAG).
Caitlin Buoniconti was the recipient of the Karen Rae Simpson Duggan Memorial Award for $1,000, which honors a graduating senior interested in fine arts, graphic arts or computer design. She plans on keeping art in her life.
“I have taken studio art classes my entire high school career,” said Buoniconti. “It is very important to me that I can keep art in my life and in my career because it is what makes me me.”
Buoniconti wants to continue her passion for art by studying art history and minoring in art as she pursues a major in biochemistry.
Ella Hayman is the award-winner of the Marjorie Gershaw $850 Scholarship, which was fostered by Gershaw’s love of and commitment to art and understanding that art is a passport to creativity.
“I am certain art will remain a constant throughout each chapter of my life,” said Hayman. “Ever since I was little, when I picture my future, I imagine paintbrushes and watercolors, and vibrant colors that add a sense of beauty to my life. I hope to find a career that allows me to use my creativity and express myself artistically. I love to bring joy to others through my art and hope to do so in college and beyond.”
The LAG also offers Lynnfield High School students the chance to participate in the Fall and Judged Spring Shows.
“Membership in the Lynnfield Art Guild, a nonprofit organization, is open to artisans, photographers and artists of all levels, with student, supporting and family memberships also available,” said LAG member Beth Aaronson. “Please visit our website www.lynnfieldarts.org and check our Lynnfield Arts Facebook, Lynnfield Arts, and Instagram, (@lynnfieldartguild, pages.”
