MELROSE — Melrose Scouts BSA Troop 635 formally awarded the rank of Eagle Scout to four young men. Michael Wagner, Peter Walsh, Harrison Brown and Brendan Radzik were honored at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor held at the Incarnation Parish in Melrose on Tuesday, June 24. They join a select group of 57 others who have achieved the Eagle Scout rank over the long history of Troop 635 Melrose.
Eagle Scout is the highest advancement rank in Scouts BSA formerly Boy Scouts. Eagle Scouts earn a minimum of 21 merit badges, serve in troop leadership roles and plan, develop and lead an Eagle Scout Service Project that benefits an organization outside of scouting.
Michael Wagner’s Eagle Scout project was building picnic tables for his elementary school. Peter Walsh designed and built a wheelchair-accessible path to the Mother and Child statue in Holy Child Park at St. Mary’s in Melrose. Harrison Brown had an information kiosk installed at Mount Hood and Brendan Radzik built a storage shed for playground equipment at Winthrop Elementary School.
All of the new Eagles have graduated high school and will be heading off to college in the fall.
Melrose Scouts BSA Troop 635 welcomes boys and girls ages 11 to 17. Meetings are held at the Incarnation Parish hall and camping and other activities take place throughout the area. Interested parties can email info@melrosetroop635.com or call 781-665-1671.
