MELROSE — The city is sharing the following updates for the upcoming week:

Curbside yard waste pickup next week

The Department of Public Works will collect yard waste on regular trash and recycling pick-up days during the week of July 14. Yard waste includes: Leaves, grass clippings and brush up to one inch in diameter (bundled and tied). No dirt allowed. Yard waste must be placed curbside in a maximum of 10 paper leaf bags or barrels. All bags and barrels must be less than 45 gallons and 45 pounds. Barrels must be labeled with “Yard Waste” stickers, which are available at no cost at the Public Works Operations Facility at 72 Tremont Street. Yard waste barrels without stickers will not be picked up with other yard waste and cannot be picked up as trash.

Residents are also reminded that the City Yard will only be open for recycling and yard waste drop-off every other Saturday for the rest of the year. The Yard is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 12. The City Yard is also open for recycling and yard waste drop-off every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Melrose Commission on Disability will host panel discussion July 23

Do you have questions or concerns about disability issues in Melrose? Do you want to learn more about the Melrose Commission on Disability and what the Commission does? The Melrose Public Library is hosting the Melrose Commission on Disability in an open panel discussion on Wednesday, July 23 at 7 p.m. Panelists will talk about the Commission’s work on how to make our community more inclusive of people with disabilities. Dog Park closed while new fencing is installed

The Melrose Dog Park is temporarily closed until Friday, July 18 for the installation of a new 6- foot perimeter fence. This important upgrade will improve a well-loved and well-used space for Melrose residents and their canine companions. The park will be closed during this period to ensure the safety of the public and the speedy completion of the project.
