NORTH READING — The Wakefield Little League 12-year-old All-Stars continued their epic run through the District 13 tournament with a 3-0 victory over previously undefeated Reading in the semifinals on Wednesday night at Benevento Park in North Reading.
Wakefield will now meet Acton-Boxborough in the district finals tonight, 6 p.m. back at Benevento.
Wakefield started their run with a 1-0 loss in extra innings against Wilmington. From there, the team won four games in a row, beating Billerica, North Reading, Andover and then Reading.

Wakefield beat Billerica 10-9 in a thriller before a comeback, 3-2 win over North Reading. Wakefield had another one-run victory over Andover, 7-6 at Fernald Field on Monday moving to 3-1 in pool play.
The combination of Griffin Burns and Vincent Noe on the mound led the team to victory against Billerica and Andover.
The 3-0 semifinal win over Reading featured a no-hitter by Colin Robinson and another home run by Varun Harish who has powered the offense by hitting a homer in three of Wakefield’s games so far.

“These kids are the true definition of team,” said manager Rob Monaco. “No one puts themselves ahead of the team. It’s been incredible to be a part of.”
District champions advance to the sectional championships. There are four sectional tournaments in Massachusetts. The winners of those move onto the four-team State Championship before advancing to New England regionals and then eventually Williamsport.
