NORTH READING — Due to ongoing mechanical issues, the elevator at the Flint Memorial Library remains out of service; however, all floors of the building remain open.
The elevator provides access to the first, second and third floors of the building and enables those unable to use either the front stairs or Bow Street stairs to access the building from the rear parking lot. The Activity Room, which is located on the ground floor of the building, has direct ground-level access from the rear parking lot for the many events that take place there.
According to a press release from the library, while the Department of Public Works seeks to restore elevator service, the library’s staff has implemented a book pick-up service on the first floor for those who cannot access the upper floors, including the children’s room on the top floor. To use this service, visit the library’s website (flintmemoriallibrary.org) to access the catalog of books and place selected items on hold before coming to the library. Those who need assistance may call the library at 978-664-4942.
Additionally, a satellite station for picking up summer reading prizes is available at the first floor circulation desk for young readers ready to claim their prizes.
