WAKEFIELD — On Sunday, June 22, the Wakefield Wanderers clinched the G6 County 3 Championship with a 4-0 win over Wilmington.

The Wanderers finished the regular season this past spring with a record of 6-1-1 to claim the top seed in County 3. They led their division with the most goals scored while allowing the fewest in their division for the season.

Offensively, they were led by Alessandra Lepore and Adalyn Noreen with 11 and 8 goals respectively. There were also key contributions from Maeve Stowell, Camila Muolo, Peyton Loftus and Ava Melendy.

Midfielders Morgan Stringer, Sophia Gilman and newcomer Ella Cenolli controlled the midfield throughout the season and worked double time contributing both offensively and defensively.

The defense was anchored by Gianna Bianco, Alice Dias, Zoey Smyrlian and Cecily Pinney.

In two playoff games, they held the opposition to 8 total shots on goal. Adela Walbourne played goalkeeper for most of the season.  She was instrumental in delivering a 3-0 shutout in the semifinal game victory over a tough Hamilton-Wenham team. Maeve Stowell contributed in goal as well throughout the season. Stowell was called on to play in net for the championship game, holding the Wilmington team scoreless.

The Wanderers were led by head coach Garrett Gilman and assistant coaches Mike Walbourne, Kristin Moan and Brian Stowell.
