Lit up the lives of everyone he touched
MALDEN — Thomas Michael Roy, known to friends and family as Tommy, passed away on July 9, 2025 at his home in North Reading after a brave battle with cancer.
Born on July 25, 1954, in Manchester, N.H., Tommy spent his formative years in Lynnfield and Reading, graduating from Reading High School in 1973. Following high school, Tommy joined the International Union of Painters & Allied Trades District Council #35 where he proudly worked until he retired after almost 40 years.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Elena Roy; daughter, Krista Roy and her husband Aaron Dave; son, Dana Roy and his wife Kaitlyn Roy; siblings, Sandra Cowell, Dan Roy, Scott Burns, and David Burns their spouses, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Roy; mother, Nancy Burns; stepfather, John Burns; and brother, Doug Roy.
For nearly 71 years Tommy lit up the lives of everyone he touched and he did so effortlessly. A man of simple pleasures, Tommy enjoyed playing golf, spending time at the beach, and taking long walks with his wife.
A memorial service celebrating Tommy’s life will be held at Bear Hill Golf Club, located at 2 North Street, Stoneham, MA 02180, on Thursday, July 24 at 5 p.m. Friends, family, and those whose lives were touched by Tommy are welcome to attend and share in commemorating his life.
